It's a New day, it's a New Year!

Let's leave behind the bad memories of an unpleasant year of rat,

It's the Year of Ox!

The Ox means hard work, positive, honesty, reliability and harvest

You know how Chinese people greet each other for 牛/niu/New Year?

Let's start to practice:

牛年好/ Happy  (New) Year( Niú nián hǎo)

春节快乐/Happy Spring Festival Chūnjié kuàilè

牛年更牛/ A prosperous year of Ox Niú nián gèng niú

恭喜发财大吉大利/ May good fortune and good luck come your way in this new year Gōngxǐ fācái, dàjí dàlì

Why the ox was ranked second among 12 zodiac animals?

There are 12 Chinese zodiac signs, in the following order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.

According to the fairy tale, Jade Emperor, the God of heaven wanted to name 12 guards to his heavenly gate and invited animals to participate a race.  The earlier one arrives at heavenly gate, the better rank one would have. Every animal got up to participate the race. Diligent ox started early. When animals arrived at a river in front of the gate, the tiny little rat asked the ox to carry him to across the river.  The honest ox agreed to carry the little mouse on his back. While reaching the border, the little rat suddenly jumped off and dashed to the feet of Jade Emperor. The rat became the first place, the honest and diligent ox only became the second place.
